Tamru (@shopbrooklyntokyo_official)
A two-frame portrait of Tamru at his Tokyo shop, from window-lit counter to close-up hand sign.
The shop is small enough that the window does most of the lighting. Tamru sits on the counter's edge in a black tee, backlit by blinds gone white with afternoon, and throws a sign at the lens without getting up. Around him the room explains itself: spray bottles lined up on the shelf, a green can of Olive Oil sheen, the padded back of a chair waiting in the foreground shadow. On the wall behind him, a print of the Brooklyn Bridge — one borough hung squarely inside another.
Then the second frame drops all context. The grid-tiled wall flattens into pattern, and Tamru brings his hand up across his face, fingers splayed so one eye looks straight through the gap. Watch on the wrist, flash close and honest, the color negative holding his skin warm against the olive tile. Two frames, one man, and the whole distance between a room and a stare.
