The set opens against a wall covered edge to edge with cartoon character posters repeating the word 'TOAST' and the tagline 'We Think Toast Anytime,' a person in a pink tulle skirt bent over a bag in the foreground. It moves to a rain-slicked street at night, where a white painted road character and a small red-and-white warning triangle float among reflected lights, and then to a densely packed magazine rack showing dozens of Japanese and English titles.

Two frames dissolve into motion blur: one a figure smeared into streaks of orange and gold signage light, the other broad horizontal bands of yellow and green with no discernible subject. Between them, a verdigris bronze statue of two figures releasing doves wears a yellow sash printed with the characters '交通安全,' and a large tiled dome rises above a fenced work yard.
