Sun Blade, Blue Cross, Red Water
Three visually disparate frames - a sunlit portrait, a blue-lit sanctuary interior, and an overhead view of tinted water - grouped for their shared contrast of sharply divided light and color rather than any confirmed subject or place.
The sequence opens with a frame turned on its side: a barefoot figure in dark sunglasses and a loose lavender-gray shirt stands against a plain textured wall, one leg crossed behind the other. A hard diagonal of light splits the wall into a bright half and a shadowed half, the line crossing directly behind the figure.
The second frame moves indoors, where a dark wooden cross is mounted on a stone-textured panel washed in blue light and set inside a white-trimmed, gabled wall panel. Below it, a man in a white shirt sits at a black upright piano while a second man in a dark shirt stands beside him, smiling.
The sequence closes on an overhead view of water that has taken on a deep rust-red cast, framed by a green-painted dock rail, mesh grating, and a perforated metal bracket reaching out over the surface, with a cluster of barnacle-crusted stones visible at the base of a piling. Grouped together, the three frames share no single subject, place, or moment confirmed by the images themselves, only a recurring contrast of sharply divided light and color.
