A Night Walk From Street To Table
A seven-frame night-walking sequence that keeps shifting between street and interior — a fractured mirror facade, a bar's amber still life, an open ramen counter, a train platform pause, a newsstand, a glowing stairwell window, and a doorway statue — described only by what is directly visible in each frame.
The sequence opens on a tilted, faceted mirror facade that splits reflections of illuminated signage, tree canopy, and string lights into angular fragments. It then moves indoors to a warmly lit still life: a dark bottle before a round mirror reflecting a fan-shaped lamp, beside a barrel marked with brushed calligraphy.
The walk continues to an open-fronted ramen counter, its red walls papered with handwritten and printed notices including numbered ordering instructions and a sign reading 営業時間 (business hours), cooks and customers crowding the counter. A train frame follows, its open doors framing an empty platform with striped pillars, hazard tape, and a drinking fountain beneath an overhead screen.
Back on foot, a magazine rack stacked with Japanese-language weeklies and manga sits beneath printed NO STEALING signage. A tiled stairwell frames a large arched window glowing violet, and the sequence closes on a blurred doorway statue of a woman holding white flowers beside a sign partly reading 'Lunch.'
